For Georgina, Napoleon – Un Petit Pantomime at the /Jermyn Street Theatre for Charles Court Opera 2024

The multi-talented cast are a joy….Jennie Jacobs and Amy J Payne are a fine double act as the Duke of Wellington and Georgina, skilfully sending up gender and class stereotypes.

PLAYS TO SEE

Mezzo Payne’s fretted intelligence as Georgina is a delight.

The Fringe Review

Jennie Jacobs, is a forthright Duke of Wellington with more than a hint of a traditional Principal Boy, nicely contrasted with Amy J Payne as Georgina, carrying much of the story and doing so very well.

West End Best Friend

Eliot Broadfoot is a capering comic George III, Amy J Payne delightful as his daughter Georgina….

British Theatre Guide

For Petra, A Little Night Music at Leeds Playhouse for Opera North 2022

Mezzo Amy J Payne as Anne’s maid Petra delivers a formidable broadside with “The Miller’s Son”.
BACHTRACK

One could argue that the greatest achievement in this show is the lesser known song, The Miller’s Son, which is packed with punchy alliteration and deftly delivered here by Amy J Payne – the performance of the night!
The Reviews Hub

Amy J Payne brings almost painful conviction to no-nonsense Petra.
THE STAGE

Amy J Payne, as the knowing servant Petra, is a truth-telling working-class hero, especially in her moving delivery of ‘The Miller’s Son’.
The Daily Telegraph

….Amy J Payne absolutely nailed one of my favourite songs in the whole of musical theatre, Petra’s thrilling, swaggering paean to promiscuous pleasures (with its brutal warnings against complacency) “The Miller’s Son”.

Broadway World

Amy J Payne was certainly not the ingenue as Anne’s maid, Petra. Experienced and wry, Payne brought create charm to the role and proved to have a terrific belt voice in ‘The Miller’s Son’.
Planet Hugill

As ever, a late contribution from Amy J Payne as Petra, with her astonishing song “The Miller’s Son”, nearly steals the show.
